PORT ST. LUCIE — Three emails from Mayor JoAnn Faiella's personal email account to a local resident were read into the public record Monday night indicating Faiella possibly tried to scheme and "dig up dirt" on the city attorney and a former police captain.
The emails from April 2011 from Faiella to local government watchdog and 2010 mayoral candidate Victoria Huggins were read into the record by Anthony Valicenti. The emails were reportedly printed and delivered to Councilwoman Michelle Berger and Vice Mayor Linda Bartz last week. Bartz and Berger said at Monday's council meeting they handed the emails to the city's legal department and city manager's office. Both said they were "disturbed" by the emails.
In Faiella's April 7, 2011, email, Faiella writes to Huggins she needs help to set up City Attorney Roger Orr. On April 9, 2011, Faiella emails Huggins and said she's gathering ammunition against former police captain Joe D'Agostino.
D'Agostino filed a defamation lawsuit in April 2011 against Faiella, claiming she is the author of an anonymous note accusing D'Agostino of using a friend as a confidential informant and refers to $10,000 in missing money from the Port St. Lucie Police Department narcotics division. The anonymous letter, which in the past Faiella has denied writing, was included as part of a package with Faiella's emails.
D'Agostino was Faiella's supervisor when she worked in the crime intelligence analysis division at the Police Department before her election in November.
Below are the emails, which were read into public record Monday:
April 7, 2011: Vicky I need your help, I want to set up Ore, I want to see if he goes back and tells Christensen and Cooper. Lets put or head together and think of something???? Because he told last month that Christsen heard that my FEC complaint was coming before the commission this month on the 12, Which is a lie. I called they are not even done... I ask where he heard it he said from Pat who heard from you???? I know that is a lie....So she is stilll starting trouble and the fact that he is talking to her bothers me especially on city time.
April 9, 2011: Hey Vicky I have an idea maybe after they pull the Records request I should be the one who goes across the street and hand s it to him and say if you did anything else please feel free to let me know so I can provided it to you... what do you think?????? only kidding
I spoke to FDLE they said they officially closed it out and they are going to finish writing it up and then submit it to The state attorneys office and they have to sign off, then it will go back to FDLE and then they will send a copy to Ore and me for public record. He said it will take about another week.
So at least I know its done now....... I looked at the memo that D'agostino wrote yesterday for the public records request he did not do it on a Police memo But he used his Title and office extension and Police cell phone ..... So I am just gathering amo against him.
Can you please send me a copy of that e-mail that that Perrone sent to you the other day. A officers said to me last night that you are working and talking to D'agostino that is what he(D'agostino) is going around saying.. I assured him that is a lie not true at all and if you heard that from Kelly he his a liar. That has been you around since election and frankly I am tried of hearing about it. People are getting caught know and they want to use Vicky as the down fall IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN......Vicky has never lied to me about anything I set he straight. And if you see Mr. Edge tell him I know that he is behind this with D'agostino because he went to have his taxes done two weeks ago with Santos.
April 18, 2011: Thanks Vicky for your e-mails, I was in Tallahassee for a couple of days on my bill which pass all the committees and now in the house. Second we had a League of Cities meetings and Bartz came with me. I also spoke to FDLE and said that D'agostino is crying and call them corrupt now also. So we should heard something this week with an actual report. Then I will go after the right people, so stand by and watch what is going to happen.
