PORT ST. LUCIE — A 17-year-old boy's "joke" involving his ex-girlfriend apparently turned out to be no laughing matter when police arrived and arrested the boy, according to a report released Monday.
The teenager was arrested on a false report of a crime charge following the Friday incidents.
The teen boy's ex-girlfriend — who also is 17 — told Port St. Lucie police they ended their relationship the day before and he was upset. She said they'd been communicating via Facebook when the teen boy sent a message indicating he'd been "taken."
"I'm trying to contact police but I don't know where I am!! I'm so (expletive) right now it's not funny," a message stated. "I've been beaten by 2 guys, and I'm covered in blood!! ... My phone is bugged or something!!"
The ex-girlfriend called 911.
Police went to the ex-boyfriend's home, where he said the message was meant as a "joke." He said he knew the ex-girlfriend would dial 911.
The ex-boyfriend was arrested and taken to the juvenile detention center.
