Eric Daddario: Felon who fired flare gun over homes, road arrested in Port St. Lucie

PORT ST. LUCIE — A felon accused of having a flare gun and firing it over several homes and a roadway was arrested Wednesday during an incident in which police recovered two stolen safes, according to an affidavit released Thursday and a police spokesman.

Eric Jon Daddario, 26, was arrested on a felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charge and a misdemeanor discharging a firearm in public charge after the 3:30 a.m. Wednesday incidents at his listed address in the 1600 block of Southeast Mansfield Street in Port St. Lucie.

Port St. Lucie police initially went to the scene following a report of a woman with a knife threatening suicide. While traveling to the scene, police received information that a man had fired a gun.

Arriving officers met Daddario, a 21-year-old woman and two other people.

Police determined Daddario and the woman argued over a cell phone. The woman supposedly grabbed a steak knife and was threatening Daddario. Her father arrived and tried to take her home.

Daddario "at some point" had a flare gun and discharged it east over several homes and a roadway.

Daddario wouldn't talk with police about the flare gun, confirming only that the woman had a knife.

Master Sgt. Frank Sabol, police spokesman, said Thursday the 21-year-old woman was involuntarily committed to a psychiatric facility for evaluation under provisions of the state's Baker Act.

The affidavit states Daddario was convicted of a battery on a law enforcement officer charge, a felony.

Police recovered the flare gun in a neighboring lot, where police also turned up two safes reported stolen in April and May, according to an affidavit and Sabol.

Police continue to investigate the burglaries in which the safes were reported stolen, Sabol said.
