An 80-year-old Stuart woman is hospitalized after she crashed her car into the side of a fast food restaurant.
It happened at the Arby's in the Towne Centre Shopping Center on US 1 in Port St. Lucie.
Just after 11 a.m., Port St. Lucie police say Mary O'Hara's car jumped a curb and clipped an SUV. Then the car made a tight squeeze between a tree and a stop sign before hitting the side of the restaurant.
There were two people inside the store, that had only been open for a few minutes.
"Where she hit is where I prep my food every day and the wood would have taken my head off, that's how close she was to where I work," said employee Barbara Rubsky.
A woman in the second vehicle was also taken to the hospital for observation.
Both are expected to be OK. Police do not believe any charges will be filed in this case.
The restaurant is closed Monday and could be shut down for the next several days as repairs are made.
