Two years before St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Sgt. Gary Morales was shot dead during a routine traffic stop, the man accused of his death was arrested by Port St. Lucie Police because of a suspended license.
A dash-cam video of the arrest released on Friday shows 25-year-old Eriese Tisdale ignoring the emergency lights and sirens and circling a parking lot multiple times before eventually pulling over.
According to a police affidavit, Tisdale exited his vehicle with his hands up in the air and laughing and told police “I was just trying to have fun.”
As he was being placed inside the police cruiser, Tisdale kicked the inside of the patrol car. Police found marijuana inside his vehicle and charged him with possession of marijuana and resisting arrest without violence.
Tisdale is accused of killing Sgt. Morales the morning of Feb. 28 during a traffic stop.
He is being held in the Martin County Jail on charges of first degree murder, assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of a weapon and ammunition by a convicted felon and fleeing from an officer.
