A Port St. Lucie father is facing charges after police say he left his four-year-old girl home alone.
Police say they were alerted by a tip that Curtis Lee Larmore was going to work and leaving the child home alone for 8 hours at a time.
The tipster said it had been happening every other week since January.
Police say when they went to the home they found the unsupervised child in a filthy house that had a strong odor of cat urine. They say the cat was using the child's closet as a litter box.
Officers also say the home had a pool and the sliding glass doors to it were not locked.
Larmore faces child abuse charges.
The child was released to a family member.
