PORT ST. LUCIE — A woman found dead over the weekend after a residential fire was identified Wednesday as 66-year-old Cheryl Baker, according to an official with the medical examiner’s office.
The blaze at the duplex in the 1400 block of Southeast Larkwood Circle was reported about 6:30 a.m. Saturday, a St. Lucie County Fire District official said.
Christine Weekes, administrative manager at the medical examiner’s office in Fort Pierce, said the autopsy was completed Tuesday, and Baker was identified through dental records Wednesday.
Weekes said the cause of death was smoke inhalation with the manner being accidental.
The Fire District has said “careless use of tobacco” is the fire’s suspected cause.
