PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- A burglar in Port St. Lucie may have had a change of heart and decided to leave a message behind after what he found in his victim's car.
The victim called police Tuesday after discovering a loaded handgun and a knife missing from his unlocked car.
The victim then went back into his home and saw a plastic bag at the front door with writing on it. Inside the bag were the knife and the gun, with the bullets removed.
The writing on one side of the bag said, "loaded gun unlocked car=stupid." On the other side, "lots of children in the area."
No arrests have been made but police say the burglar could still face armed burglary and theft charges.
The theft happened in 2700 block of Southwest District Avenue.
