SUBURBAN PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - A 64-year-old bicyclist was killed Tuesday evening when he was struck by a vehicle.
The incident at about 8:40 p.m., according to Sgt. Frank Sabol, spokesman for Port St. Lucie Police Department.
The bike rider, James Dale Ritchey of Port St. Lucie, was traveling westbound on Selva Court.
A 2000 Honda driven by Norrana Libia Dias Montimor, 21, of Port St. Lucie was traveling northbound on Airoso Boulevard in the outside lane, said a Florida Highway Patrol report.
The bike struck the curb at the intersection of Airoso Boulvard and Selva Court, causing Ritchey to be ejected off the bicycle.
Ritchey landed in the outside lane of Airoso Boulevard in front of the path of Montimor's car.
Montimor was not able to react fast enough to where Ritchey landed, causing the car to hit the victim. Ritchey was pronounced dead at the scene.
Montimor was not hurt.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
