PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Local musicians graced the stage from noon to 10 p.m. at Sixty Sundaes in Port St. Lucie Sunday.

But the most important member of the audience wasn't even there.

Joey Yannucci was only pictured on the tip cups and raffle jars.

"We've all come together with different small businesses in town and individual vendors to lend our support because we know what the family is going through right now," Cheri Buescher of 60 Sundaes said.

For more than a month, 11-year-old Yannucci's family has been watching their son try to recover from injuries he sustained in a St. Lucie County school bus crash.

He now is recovering at the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood.

"Travel expenses for driving back and forth from West Palm Beach to now Hollywood, just everything that's been happening. If there's any support that we can give we're happy to do it," Buescher said.

Other than music, a 50/50 raffle and cash donations, vendors set up shop outside the venue.

A percentage of the sales from each business went to the Yannucci family, but one vendor donated 100 percent of what she sold.

"It's only my household items that I had so therefore I don't need the money that comes from it," Valerie Skalar said. "This charity needs it much more than I do."

Skalar laid out old movies and more to try and help where she could.

She said she's not a business owner like the other vendors, she's just a woman who wanted to help out the Yannucci family.

"It's horrible, we lost one child and this poor lad, he's been in the hospital for a month," Skalar said. "Anything that we can do as a community to help that family overcome this, everyone should pitch in."
