PORT ST. LUCIE _ A motorcycle rider sustained serious injuries Tuesday after a crash involving three vehicles on St. Lucie West Boulevard just west of Bayshore Boulevard, a Port St. Lucie police spokesman said.

The crash in the eastbound lanes happened about 4:35 p.m., and the motorcycle rider wound up pinned under a sport utility vehicle, said Master Sgt. Frank Sabol, police spokesman.

Sabol said one sport utility vehicle rear-ended a second sport utility vehicle, which ran over the motorcycle.

Sabol said eastbound St. Lucie West Boulevard is shut down between Cashmere and Bayshore boulevards.

Westbound St. Lucie West Boulevard traffic remains open.

No other information was immediately available.
