Five people, including a teen girl, injured in a three-car crash near Fort Pierce on Wednesday

About 50 to 60 people were injured Saturday when a driver described by witnesses as an elderly man drove his car into a group of hikers marching in a parade in a small Virginia mountain town.

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - A 10-year-old girl was taken by air ambulance Wednesday afternoon from a three-car crash just south of Fort Pierce.  Four other people involved in the crash also were hospitalized, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office.

The accident happened just before 2 p.m. at the intersection of 25th Street and Edwards Road.

According to deputies, 17-year-old Emily Kim, was driving a 1999 Pontiac northbound when she crashed into an eastbound 1997 Kia sports utility vehicle driven by Maincia O. Garcia, 34,. Garcia's car crashed into an eastbound Lexus sedan driven by John A. Terrell, 39 causing the Kia SUV to flip on its side.

Krystal Aguilar, 10, a passenger in the SUV, was flown to a trauma center in Palm Beach County, said SLCSO.

Chayla Golden, 17, a passenger in Kim's car was hospitalized, as were Garcia, Terrell and Maria Aguilar.

Maria and Krystal are sisters and the daughters of Maincia Garcia.

Four of the five injured reside in Fort Pierce. Terrell is from Vero Beach.

There is no word on the extent of the injuries suffered by the five people.

Charges are pending against one of the drivers, according to a SLCSO's media release. However, the release did not state which driver would be charged.

There is no other information available at this time.
