ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. - The Humane Society of St. Lucie County is bursting at the seams with dogs and cats.
Workers say to make matters worse, their Mobile Pet Adoption RV has seen better days.
"If you look at the ceiling of it, we have pushpins holding it up," explained shelter spokesperson Shawn Hart.
The RV is almost 15 years old and pushing 100,000 miles on the odometer. It sometimes leaves staffers stranded on the side of the road.
"The brakes just went out and it caught it on fire," added Hart.
When the electrical system short circuits, workers are left in the dark.
"To show the animals, we have to use a flashlight," said Hart.
Without a reliable vehicle, animal adoptions will slow down. Workers at the Humane Society of St. Lucie County are asking for help to find new transportation.
"If anyone knows of any good deals, or if anyone would like to donate a vehicle, please call us," said Hart.
If you are able to help out, please call 772-461-0687.
