PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Mike Mandell says he attended the party that police say happened after the murder Saturday of Mary Jo and Blake Hadley in the Granduer Avenue home in Port St. Lucie.
"I feel sick, I haven't eaten, haven't slept I'm just sick," said Mandell, about the murder of his best friend Tyler Hadley's parents.
Mandell was one of dozens who attended the party 17-year-old Tyler Hadley hosted Saturday night into Sunday morning.
"I got a facebook invite and a call from him from his dad's cellphone," explains Mandell.
Hours later, police arrested Tyler and charged him with the murder of his parents. A murder Mike Mandell said he learned about before the police.
"He told me if I look hard enough I would find the scene and I saw signs of blood and that's when I went around and saw it in his parents’ bedroom," Mandell told NewsChannel 5 Tuesday afternoon.
Mandell said when he went into the master bedroom, he saw a gruesome scene. "I opened the door saw bloody sheets and broken pictures and looked down and saw his dad's leg," Mandell said.
Mandell said Tyler Hadley told him that he had taken three ecstasy pills, then murdered his parents.
Mandell said Tyler Hadley was planning to commit suicide. He said Hadley told him that they should take a photo together because it would be the last time they would see each other.
Mandell said he did not initially call police about what he had seen and heard at the party, but he said police did come to his house on Sunday morning and that he told them what he knew.
Hadley is currently being held without bond in the St. Lucie County Jail. Prosecutors plan to seek an indictment for first degree murder.
