FORT PIERCE, Fla. - A three-vehicle accident involving alcohol killed one woman and injured one man Thursday night, Florida Highway Patrol reports.
Around 11:30 p.m., FHP says Michael Allen Mack, 45, was driving under the influence of alcohol as he was traveling north on Kings Highway in Fort Pierce.
When he reared his 2005 Chevy truck into the southbound lane, he smashed head-on into Lynn Elizabeth Volanski, 68, driving her 2008 Toyota Scion in the opposite direction.
The impact caused Mack's vehicle to overturn onto its roof into the northbound lane and shoved Volanski back 400 feet.
Traveling in a third car, Roy Algin Mclendon, 79, then smashed the right front side of his Toyota Celica into the left side of Mack's truck.
Volanski died on the scene. Mack was taken to Lawnwood Hospital with minor injuries and McLendon was unharmed.
FHP reports Volanski was not wearing her seatbelt.
