FORT PIERCE — A 19-year-old man accused in an armed confrontation Tuesday with his mother after she put his clothes in a swimming pool was arrested on a felony charge, according to an affidavit released Wednesday.

Seth Eli Oliver, of the 4600 block of South 25th Street in Fort Pierce, was arrested on an aggravated battery charge after his mother told St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office investigators he is "rude and disrespectful."

The mother said she told Oliver to stop using the washer and dryer until he adjusts his attitude. On Monday night, she found Oliver's clothes in the washer, and she put them outside in an above ground pool.

She said Oliver found the clothes Tuesday morning and grew upset. She said he went in his room and got a BB gun. She said he pointed it at her face and "fired twice but the gun did not discharge."

She said he got another gun and pointed it at her face. She said she moved her face before he fired and the bullet just missed her.

Investigators found a .22 caliber cartridge casing.

Oliver told investigators he got his rifle and threatened to kill his mother after finding his clothes in the pool.

He said he fired two rounds into the ground.

Oliver was held Wednesday in the St. Lucie County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail, a jail official said.
