FORT PIERCE, Fla. - Detectives in Fort Pierce are looking into a rash of car break-ins at area motels.
Police released photos of five vehicles that had their windows smashed.
The crimes happened at the La Quinta and Hampton Inns near I-95.
Police say the incidents serve as a reminder not to give criminals a reason to target you.
"Obviously best thing to do is to park in well lighted area. Try not to leave stuff in vehicles because when burglars come through obviously this is a crime of opportunity. If they look in window and see a bunch of stuff, they think they can get something valuable," said Dennis McWilliams of the Fort Pierce police.
There were four other car break-ins Tuesday night in the Bent Creek community nearby.
Police are investigating to see if the crimes are related.
