Fort Pierce woman shot Saturday dies

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - A 36-year-old Fort Pierce woman who was found shot and laying on the ground at North 25th Street and Avenue K early Saturday morning has died after being taken to a local trauma center.

Fort Pierce Police were called to the location about 12:15 a.m. Saturday, where they found the victim, Qulanda Toombs, said Sgt. Dennis McWilliams , the department's public information officer. She died that evening, he added.

Police are asking the community for information about the circumstances surrounding her murder, McWilliams said.
