— A fight among female students walking home from school led to a 14-year-old being knocked unconscious and left in the middle of a street Friday afternoon, according to police reports.

A resident heard yelling about 4:41 p.m. and went she got to the front of her house, in the 600 block of Texas Court, and saw the 14-year-old arguing with an unidentified girl. Then another girl came up from behind, pulled the 14-year-old's hair and kneed her in the face, knocking her unconscious. Then she was kicked in the abdomen and face and pulled along the pavement for a few feet, the report states.

The resident called 911 after pulling the girl out of the road. She was treated at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute and told investigators she didn't know why the other girl, whom she didn't know, wanted to fight her.

Police continue investigating the case.
