A gunman fired several shots at a pair of police officers, hitting one, and held two hostages for nearly nine hours - but all came away from the standoff without serious injuries.

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - Fort Pierce police are investigating a Tuesday afternoon shooting.
A person was shot around 5:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of Avenue F in Fort Pierce, according to Sgt. Dennis McWilliams, spokesman for city police.
The person, whose gender and identity were not revealed, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, McWilliams said.
There are no other details immediately available.
