ST. LUCIE COUNTY — A Fort Pierce senior citizen won $10 million in the Florida Lottery on a ticket he bought two weeks ago, officials announced Wednesday.

Rubin Johnson, 65, of Fort Pierce, chose a one-time payment of $6.6 million, officials said. He purchased his ticket at Tiki Shell in the 6300 block of North U.S. 1, Fort Pierce.

Johnson told lottery officials he was out of town when the drawing took place and did not check his tickets. Tuesday, Johnson went to the Shell store and saw a sign that read, "Jackpot Winning-Ticket Sold Here."

"I never thought it was going to be me," he told the Florida Lottery.

The store also received a $35,000 bonus incentive for selling the ticket.

Johnson could not be reached for further comment Wednesday.
