FORT PIERCE — Three people were shot over the weekend in Fort Pierce with at least one being critically injured, though details on all the incidents weren’t immediately clear, according to records and police on Monday.

One of the incidents happened Sunday night. Police were dispatched about 9 p.m. to the area of North 32nd Street and Avenue F following reports of shooting activity, a Fort Pierce police report states.

Meanwhile, an officer working at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce reported a person had been driven to the emergency room with a gunshot wound to the hip.

The driver of the vehicle told police he was in the area of North 32nd Street and Avenue F when he heard shots. He said he got in his vehicle and was leaving to avoid the gunfire.

He said he saw his friend walking with a “noticeable limp and holding his hip,” a report states.

The man said he knew his friend, a 24-year-old Port St. Lucie resident, must have been shot. He drove the 24-year-old man to a hospital.

Another incident happened about 12:34 a.m. Sunday, according to police Sgt. David Cuti.

A 37-year-old man was in a home in the 1700 block of North 21st Street when the home was struck by gunfire in a drive-by shooting, Cuti said.

The 37-year-old man was struck once in the torso and was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Cuti said.

No information on the third shooting was immediately available.
