FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The solo occupant of a vehicle died Tuesday evening after a rollover accident in the southbound lanes of Florida's Turnpike near Fort Pierce, said Lt. Tim Frith, spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver, whose gender and identity have not been released, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene of the accident, Lt. Frith said.
The accident happened on the shoulder of the road around 7:41 p.m. near Mile Marker 158, he said.
The southbound left lane was closed while traffic investigators check the scene and take measurements. But as 11 p.m. all southbound lanes were reopened to traffic.
