An 18-year-old Fort Pierce girl was charged with child abuse and battery Sunday after St. Lucie County deputies found bruises resembling "hickeys" on her stomach and on the neck of a 9-year-old boy who had stayed at her home Saturday night, according to an arrest affidavit.

The boy's mother called 911 Sunday morning after spotting her son's bruises, the affidavit said. The woman told investigators she thought the teen was babysitting for her son and had not believed rumors that more was going on.

The girl said she took someone else's prescription medication and fell asleep, the affidavit said.

The boy told an investigator he woke in the middle of the night and went into the girl's room and lay down with her. He said the girl bit him twice on his neck, the report said. The girl reported the boy bit her twice on the stomach.

The Florida Department of Children and Families was notified.
