ST. LUCIE COUNTY — A 73-year-old woman was arrested on a felony charge after her husband Wednesday said she turned off an oxygen machine and grabbed a knife as if she were going to stab him, according to records released Thursday.

Edwina Markowski, of the 8600 block of Hidden Pines Road in Fort Pierce, was arrested on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill charge in connection with the 11:30 a.m. incidents.

Markowski got upset with her 75-year-old husband, who was in his wheelchair with an oxygen hose hooked up.

"He said that she turned off the oxygen machine and broke his hose," an affidavit states. "She then retrieved a black handled kitchen knife from the kitchen and held it like she was going to stab him."

Arrested by St. Lucie County sheriff's investigators, Markowski said she got the knife and thought about slicing her husband, but put the knife down.
