FORT PIERCE — A 43-year-old woman accused of pouring beer on her husband's head Tuesday night and repeatedly ramming her Lexus into a truck belonging to both of them faces charges, an arrest affidavit states.

Claire Brodish Cosgrave, of the 20 block of Majestic Way in Fort Pierce, was arrested on charges including misdemeanor battery and felony criminal mischief following the 8:20 p.m. incidents.

Cosgrave's husband told St. Lucie County Sheriff's deputies that his wife came home after spending the day elsewhere. In the driveway, Cosgrave honked the horn and her husband walked outside. Cosgrave reportedly called her mother-in-law names, the affidavit states.

Cosgrave then walked into the home and grabbed a beer from a refrigerator. She poured the beverage over her husband's head before getting in her Lexus sport utility vehicle, the affidavit says.

She rammed the Lexus into a truck that belongs to her and her husband. The truck was pushed into a vehicle belonging to Cosgrave's mother-in-law. Cosgrave's husband said she rammed the truck three times, and investigators reported it appeared the truck was a total loss. The sport utility vehicle sustained about $10,000 in damages and the other car had about $5,000 in damages.

"I then spoke with Claire who stated she rammed the vehicles, but claimed the vehicle was having a mechanical problem," the arrest affidavit states. "When I confronted Claire about the tire marks, which indicated someone rammed the vehicles on purpose, Claire then stated, 'Yea, I did it on purpose.' "

Cosgrave's husband said he'd be scared if Cosgrave is released from jail.

Cosgrave was held Wednesday in the St. Lucie County jail on $20,000 bail, a jail official said.
