FORT PIERCE — A 6-year-old child's call to police about his mother not being home in the middle of the night led to her being arrested on a felony charge of child neglect without great harm, according to police reports.
Jacinda Wiley, 24, of the 1900 block of Avenue P, Fort Pierce, was arrested 12:06 a.m. Tuesday and the child was turned over to his father.
Police allegedly found the child and two other children, of unknown ages, without adult supervision at 10:55 p.m. after answering the child's call. According to arrest reports, "His mom left him at the house and went to the club. The victim stated he didn't mean to call and was scared that the suspect was going to hit him when she shows up."
Investigators found two other children sleeping in back bedrooms and no adult was present, the reports said.
Officers contacted Wiley at 11:13 p.m. Monday and they quoted her as saying a cousin was watching the children when she left. Investigators weren't able to contact the cousin. After she arrived home at 12:06 a.m. Tuesday she was arrested.
One of the other children in the home didn't live there. That child was turned over to its parent.
