St. Lucie County election workers performed an emergency recount of early voting ballots due to machines malfunctioning.

The votes are tallied.

St. Lucie Supervisor of Elections certifies the race between Patrick Murphy and Allen West.

Patrick Murphy is declared the winner with 65,567 votes.

West came in at 52, 672 votes.

As for the Fort Pierce Mayoral election, the new winner is Linda Hudson with 6,915 votes.

Vince Gaskin finished with 6,854 votes.

A third recount for the mayoral candidate is scheduled for Wednesday, November 14th at 7 a.m.
