ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. — Some local cooks are taking homemade pastries to a new high.

On Tuesday a crackdown on two marijuana grow houses and another home — one in Port St. Lucie and two in the county — included finding some refrigerated homemade marijuana-laced cupcakes, according to arrest reports.

From what investigators learned, the cupcakes, found in a raid of a Northeast Summer Road home in the county, retailed for $10 each or three for $25.

They were discovered along with "The Cannabis Cookbook" of 35 recipes for making "mind blowing meals," according to the back cover.

Mainly, law enforcement officers found marijuana, both as growing plants and in bags, and arrested four men during the cross-county crackdown, the reports state.

Near Fort Pierce, sheriff's deputies searched a home in the 2200 block of River Hammock Lane and found 10 mature marijuana plants weighing 100 pounds, leading to arrest of a New Jersey man who allegedly was tending the plants, according to arrest reports.

Inside the home were materials used to grow marijuana indoors: fans, timers and lights, the reports states.

Investigators quoted the occupant, Lorenzo Yosmany, 24, as saying he alone was responsible for tending the plants and house, and that was his only form of employment. He was arrested at 4 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell and trafficking in marijuana. Yosmany is in the St. Lucie County Jail in lieu of a $90,000 bail.

At 5 p.m. Tuesday deputies and Port St. Lucie Police investigators found what is alleged to be another grow house in the 2500 block of Southeast Tail Avenue, Port St. Lucie. There they found, according to reports, 26 well-tended potted marijuana plants being grown inside using specialized lighting and a dehumidifier.

Also inside was a man investigators quoted as saying, "You got me." He went on to say, according to the reports, that the marijuana belongs to him and he was growing it for smoking. Peter Tabora, 43, was charged with producing marijuana with the intent to sell and possess it. He is in the St. Lucie County Jail in lieu of a $23,250 bail.

Two men were arrested in the raid of the Northeast Summer Road home, where the alleged marijuana cupcakes and marijuana was found. The items were packaged for what investigators presumed was for street sale.

Arrested at the house was Pedro Valido Jr, 34, and Nayef Lopes, 31. They are charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell. Both out are of jail under $15,750 bails.
