JENSEN BEACH, Fla. - Deputies with the Martin County Sheriff's Office have arrested a man they say is responsible for using a laser lighting device to shine into aircraft in the Jensen Beach area.

According to a media release from the sheriff's office, David Fiedler, 17, was taken into custody for misuse of a laser lighting device after aviation deputies on a routine patrol spotted a green laser illuminating the sky shortly after midnight October 16th.

Deputies say the light was shining in their faces and eyes, obstructing their view.

Deputies quickly located Fiedler riding a bicycle in the Windemere development with the laser light in his front pocket.

Misuse of a laser lighting device is a third degree felony. Fiedler was booked into the Martin County Jail and later released to his parents.
