BRINEY BREEZES, Fla. - It's not often that you can stand along the ocean and spot a big whale here in South Florida.

But that's exactly what Ira Friedman and several others saw Saturday.

Ira lives along the ocean and often takes videos of surfers. That's what he was doing when he spotted a big black whale swim along the shoreline, heading south towards Delray Beach and Boca Raton.

"I've lived here for 14 years and have never seen one," says Ira.

He said there were about 6-8 surfers in the water at the time. When they spotted the whale they quickly moved away to allow the whale to pass without interference.

Other Briney Breezes residents and visitors joined Friedman to watch the sight.

A few minutes later and the whale was gone from view, for other beachgoers and boaters to enjoy along South Florida's shoreline.
