SUBURBAN BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -- A violent home invasion has led to a murder charge against a Palm Beach County man who followed a daughter and her father home from the Boca Raton Town Center Mall, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators give this account: They say after Lauren Kanoff and her dad Albert Honigman finished a shopping trip at the mall on January 11, they returned to their suburban Boynton Beach home.

After they pulled into the garage a man confronted them and began viciously attacking Honigman who slipped and fell on the floor and struck his head. The intruder then began beating up Kanoff, stole a watch and jewelry and escaped in a silver car.

Two days later Kanoff found her father dead inside his home.

The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner determined Honigman died of injuries he received from the attack.

Using a description of the suspect and examining surveillance tape, detectives determined a silver Camaro had followed Kanoff and her father from the mall.

They determined one of the car's owners matched the description of Kareem Andre Williams.

Detectives then obtained his cell phone records which they say placed him at the mall the same time Kanoff and Honigman were shopping. They also reviewed surveillance video from the mall which they say showed Williams and Honigman crossing paths near one of the mall's exits.

As a result, detectives arrested Williams and charged him with first-degree murder and home invasion robbery.

They say Williams, who is a personal trainer at a local LA Fitness gym, has an extensive criminal history. They say he was released from prison in 2011 after serving time for armed burglary and firearms offenses.

Investigators also say a second man was with Williams during and after the home invasion. They are still trying to determine what his involvement was.
