Woman charged with child neglect following the near drowning of three children

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Renita Alfred has been arrested and charged with child neglect.

Delray Beach Police say that on December 29th, 2009 Alfred was home fixing her hair when she lost track of her two young sons and another child.

Police say that after Alfred discovered that the children were missing she and her sister searched for them.

The three children were found floating on top of a neighbor's pool in a fenced yard.

Renita and her sister, 16 year old Esther Alfred, pulled the children from the pool and administered CPR.

The three were transported to Bethesda Memorial Hospital and have since recovered from the near drowning according to investigators from the Department of Children and Families.

An investigation by Delray Beach Police concluded that Alfred did not properly supervise the children.

Alfred appeared before a Palm Beach County judge and was held in jail on $50,000 bond.
