DELRAY BEACH, Fla — Repairs to a massive break in a sewage line have closed the intersection of Congress Avenue and Lowson Boulevard in Delray Beach and are expected to be completed by Wednesday, Jan. 25, according to a Delray Beach spokesperson.
The break happened around 6 a.m. at South Congress Avenue and Lowson Boulevard, dispatchers report. The resulting gush of sewage flooded the intersection and prompted authorities to close all lanes of the north-south corridor from Atlantic Avenue south to Linton Boulevard.
The sewer main, also known as a force main, gave way due to the age of the pipe., according to officials. The leak and resulting sewage spillage have been contained by the City.
Traffic approaching the closed intersection will be detoured accordingly
