DELRAY BEACH –– The Palm Beach County Sheriff's bomb squad removed a possible grenade found in a home this afternoon.

Sheriff's Explosive Ordnance Disposal crews were dispatched to the home in the 13000 block of Solana Beach Cove around 11:30 a.m.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews were also dispatched to the scene.

The possible grenade was found by a woman living in the home who was cleaning out some of her late husband's belongings, said sheriff's spokesman Eric Davis.

The woman, who was not named, found what looked like a grenade in the shoebox, he said.

It is still unknown if the object was an actual grenade.

It was removed safely from the home, Davis said.
