DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - In a test of endurance and strength, a Delray Beach man is pulling a tire back and forth across a bridge to help raise money for Haiti.
With a harness on his body and a 30 lb. tire attached to him, ultra-marathoner Frank McKinney is walking back and forth across the Linton Boulevard bridge in Delray Beach.
McKinney started at 5 a.m. Saturday and his goal is to keep walking while pulling the tire for 24 hours straight, even if it is raining.
"The rain actually makes it easier to pull the tire," McKinney said.
McKinney is putting the strain on his body in order to raise money for the Caring House Project Foundation.
The foundation helps build villages in Haiti.
In the past decade, the organization has helped build at least 10 different vilages in Haiti, McKinney said.
He's also training for the Badwater 135-mile ultra-marathon.
He'll also be raising money in that effort as well.
So far he's raised about $6,000, he said and will be accepting donations during his bridge walk Saturday.
