DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - The principal of Plumosa Elementary School in Delray Beach has been arrested.
Priscilla Maloney faces six criminal charges.
Palm Beach County State Attorney Michael McAuliffe said she stole and misused school property.
She's accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of school furniture for a local business. The state attorney also says Maloney took a projector for her own personal use and submitted false paperwork to be fraudulently reimbursed.
Maloney has been charged with organized scheme to defraud, two counts of grand theft, two counts of official misconduct and 1 count of petit theft.
The Palm Beach County School District released this statement Tuesday afternoon:
As a result of the arrest of Plumosa Elementary School of the Arts Principal Priscilla Maloney, the school district has launched an employee relations investigation.
Maloney has been reassigned to an administrative position (Virtual Schools office) pending the outcome of that investigation, which could lead to employee discipline.
