DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - A woman and a 10-year-old boy were taken to a local hospital Tuesday evening after their vehicle crashed into a power pole near N.E. 5th Street and N.E. 2nd Street in Delray Beach, according to authorities.
The boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries; the extent of the woman's injuries are unknown at this time, said Sgt. Nicole Guerriero, spokeswoman for Delray Beach Police Department.
Guerriero said the accident may have been caused by a second vehicle, which was later stopped by police.
She said she was not sure if the driver had been arrested.
The accident left about 1,450 customers of FPL in the dark for several hours, said Greg Brostowicz, company spokesman. He said that by 11 p.m. only 130 customers were still without power.
The accident is under investigation, Guerriero said.
