DELRAY BEACH, Florida - A 24-year-old Lake Worth man is in custody in connection with the armed robbery of a Delray Beach food market in December.
Travis Lamarcus Jackson was arrested Friday evening and charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder with a firearm, one count of armed robbery with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Nicole Guerriero, spokeswoman for city police.
Around 7:30 p.m. on December 22, officers responded to a call of an armed robbery at the Community Food Market at 1130 West Atlantic Avenue. Upon arrival the officers were told that two black males had entered the store and had shot at a customer that was inside and also at another customer that had attempted to get in the store during the robbery.
No one was injured in the shooting.
The two suspects then ordered the clerks to turn over the money from the cash register; they took the money and fled, Guerriero said.
Police shared the store surveillance video with the media and as a result several witnesses came forward with information. The witness statements and investigation by detectives led to the arrest of Jackson.
At the time of the arrest, Jackson was already in jail on unrelated charges, Guerriero said.
