DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Supporters of the Arts Garage in Delray Beach, will hold a rally in front of the building, right before the city commission meeting tonight.
The art venue is up for bid and city leaders will decide if they'll sell the property to Creative City Collaborative, who currently runs and occupies the space, or sell it to a personal injury law firm, Kenner and Pintaluga.
Supporters first expressed interest in buying the property back in December and offered to pay 2.5 million dollars, but only after the law firm offered 1.7 million. The law firm then decided to match the price, leaving the decision up to city leaders to determine who gets the space.
Supporters said this vote is critical, not only for the Arts Garage, but to help thrive the Pineapple Grove Arts district, the restaurants, the shops and the nightlife in delray beach.
Organizers have nearly 2,000 signatures on an online petition at change.org to keep the garage.
The city commission meeting starts at 6 p.m. this evening .
