BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A Boynton Beach police officer has been shot in the foot and another person, described as a suspect, was also shot and killed after an incident in the 900 block of Railroad Avenue.
The Boynton Beach Police chief said the incident began after officers heard a BOLO, 'Be On The Look Out,' for a car involved in an armed robbery in Delray Beach.
Officers spotted a vehicle matching the suspect's car around 4:55 p.m. on Federal Highway and tried to pull it over.
Police say the driver refused to stop.
The suspect made his way to NE 9th Avenue and Railroad Avenue and collided into a vehicle driven by a woman. She received minor injuries.
Police say the suspect got out of his car and started firing at them.
Then two police officers, who were following the suspect, returned fire killing him.
One officer was reportedly shot in the foot and has non-life threatening injuries.
According to Boynton Beach police spokesperson Stephanie Slater, the officer who was shot is now out of the hospital and resting at home.
