BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -- An 17-year-old high school student was seriously injured after being struck by a pickup truck early Friday in Boynton Beach, police said.
Allana Diniz, a Santaluces High School student, was hit about 6:25 a.m. as she crossed Congress Avenue at Meadows Boulevard, police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said.
Diniz was transported to Delray Medical Center. Ruben Solomon, the 52-year-old driver of the Ford pickup truck, was not injured.
All southbound lanes of Congress Avenue initially closed between Meadows Boulevard and Miner Road while police investigated. But all roads have since opened.
Though traffic investigators said Diniz was crossing in the crosswalk, it is unknown at this time who had the right of way.
Boynton Beach Police ask that anyone with information about the crash call Traffic Homicide Investigator Cory Gray at 561-742-6147.
