BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -- A Boynton Beach Police officer has been charged with domestic battery.
City road patrol officer Ronald Ryan, 45, threw a cellphone at a woman's face on Christmas Day, according to a Boynton Beach Police report.
The 49-year-old victim, whom police have not identified, told investigators Ryan grabbed her by the neck and pushed her onto the couch, laughing.
Ryan later admitted he had been heavily drinking since noon. Before the alleged attack, Ryan said he had been talking with the woman about his mother, who recently passed away.
Ryan then said he didn't understand how the woman was injured and that any injury was "unintentional." The impact of the phone cut the woman's nose.
