BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -- Parents and students in Palm Beach County can meet with the school district's bus drivers today in preparation of the start of classes next week.
The district is holding a "mock day" so students can practice going to the bus stop.
Experts say preparation and practice can help ease kids' nerves about the first day of school.
Dr. Jeffrey Bishop at Wellington Regional Medical Center says parents can also set out clothes the night before for young kids, walk them to their classroom on the first day, warn teachers about allergies and talk to kids about their worries -- particularly about bullying.
"I always recommend to parents to be able to talk to their children about bullying and not to be afraid to identify it, talk about it, speak up to somebody about it," said Dr. Bishop.
Bishop says if your child's nerves seem excessive, you should contact your pediatrician.
