BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - The death of a male worker at the Publix distribution center in Boynton Beach is under investigation.
The incident happened sometime last week at the warehouse along Park Ridge Boulevard.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating and trying to determine whether any OSHA standards were violated.
According to the agency, it has up to six months from the beginning of its investigation to issue findings.
The name of the person killed has not been released. However, the law office of Craig Goldenfarb identified the worker as Pierre Marcelin, 52. It says Marcelin, a forklift operator, was crushed to death. The law office plans to hold a news conference with two of Marcelin's sons Wednesday.
Publix released this statement about the incident:
We are saddened by the loss of our Publix family member. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with his family. We are currently conducting an internal investigation and no further details are available at this time.
