BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Opening the door to her own backyard makes Camille Bruno cringe. She had hoped for the pool of her dreams, and instead feels frustrated.
"Humiliation that I paid all of that money, I'm sad, hurt, angry," said Bruno.
She and her husband Robert have one of a handful of complaints against Nationwide Pools Inc., that has launched a State Attorney's Office investigation.
The couple sank $50,000 into a bigger pool behind their suburban Boynton Beach home, and a concrete shell is all they have to show for it.
"I've been stressed, my stomach is in pain in the mornings when I hopes they'd show up and they didn't show," said Bruno.
The Brunos say they were in constant contact with Nationwide, and the company repeatedly promised to come out the following Friday, and that Friday would come and go.
What is worse, a third-party contractor filled in the foundation, and according to the Brunos hasn't been paid by Nationwide. That company placed a lien on the Bruno home for $8,000. The couple hasn't filed a lawsuit, they hope it doesn't come to that.
"Realistically I hope I get some of the money back from them, I'd be food enough to let them finish the job," said Bruno.
The owner of Nationwide was contacted Tuesday afternoon. He agreed to answer questions and then abruptly hung up the phone.
Nationwide lost its membership with the Florida Swimming Pools Association last week, after the group learned about the complaints mounting against the company.
