BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A 24-year-old man was arrested after police said that he made a fake bomb threat at an addiction treatment center Tuesday afternoon.
Justin George allegedly slipped a note under a door where a group therapy session was in progress.
Boynton Beach officers responded at about 3:15 p.m. to the Watershed Treatment Center on Quantum Lakes Drive. The facility was evacuated, and police blocked the parking lot entrance while officers investigated.
According to a probable cause arrest affidavit, George wrote a note on a piece of piece containing the words "Bomb Threat." He then slid it under the door, where it was retrieved by a center employee.
The employee opened the door and then handed the note to a supervisor, according to the affidavit.
Investigators reviewed a surveillance video that showed a man matching George's description appear to sit at a desk, write on a piece of paper, and then slide it under the door.
George initially denied all knowledge of the incident and refused to speak to officers, the affidavit said. But later at the Boynton police station, he spontaneously uttered that he wrote the note as a joke and was sliding it to a friend, the affidavit stated.
