An angry Boynton Beach mom loaded her two kids into her Dodge Neon and then repeatedly rammed its nose into the side of their father's Buick LeSabre, deputies say.
Lovetta McGrady, 22, who has been charged with child abuse two times since 2009, now stands charges with child neglect and criminal mischief.
On Saturday, an argument about the kids exploded into bumper-car theatrics in the 400 block of Southwest Fifth Avenue in Boynton Beach, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office report.
In the morning, McGrady rolled up to her 22-year-old ex-boyfriend's house in her 2003 Doge Neon to drop off her two children.
The man told her he didn't plan to have the children that day. McGrady then punched him, the man told detectives, and he pushed her away.
Both children – ages three months and three years – stood in the front yard, watching their parents fight.
McGrady then loaded the kids into the Neon, got in the driver's seat and started it up. She made a U-turn and stopped her car in front of the man's house, where he had parked his Buick LeSabre.
McGrady then pointed the Neon's nose toward the car and pushed the gas pedal, deputies say.
Lovetta then rammed the LeSabre – three times.
She struck the front bumper and rear side, causing $1,500 in damage before speeding off.
A detective later met McGrady at her home in the 500 block of Northwest Ninth Avenue. McGrady admitted ramming her car into the LeSabre.
She said she did it because she "was upset," the report said.
In the driveway, the detective noticed the front driver's side bumper was damaged, sporting a battle-scar of white paint from the LeSabre.
The children weren't injured in the ramming, but deputies booked McGrady in the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of child abuse and criminal damage to property.
In 2009, police charged McGrady with child abuse after an argument about rent led her to point a knife at a woman holding a young girl. The charges were later dropped.
In October 2010, McGrady struck again, allegedly beating up a 15-year-old girl outside a convenience store in Boynton Beach.
To avoid trial and jail time in that case, McGrady entered a treatment program.
