BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -- A man accused of chasing multiple people with a machete inside their home received no bond from a judge Tuesday.
Boynton Beach police say Kerven Charles, 19, was armed with a machete demanding money from a home's occupants Monday.
Charlesleft the home after picking up a wallet that one of the victims threw at him, police said.
Another victim a few homes north of that incident reported to police that a man fitting the same description came up to her just prior to that incident and tried to rob her.
The woman claimed that Charles approached her while wielding a machete and demanded her wallet and purse.
During this time, the woman claimed that Charles grabbed her 4-year-old son by his collar and threatened to harm him with the machete if he did not receive her purse and wallet.
He left them unharmed after rummaging through the victim's wallet and purse.
Charles appeared before a judge Tuesday morning. He was charged with robbery, aggravated assault and cruelty to a child.
