An elderly Boynton Beach woman was attacked and choked in her own home Wednesday morning after a man broke in and demanded her jewelry, police said.
The victim, whose name and age were not yet available, was in her house in the 1600 block of S.W. 22nd Ave. in Boynton Beach at 9 a.m. Wednesday when a man broke in through a window.
She is now recovering in a hospital with neck and back injuries, police said.
Boynton Beach Police Department spokesperson Stephanie Slater said that witnesses told police that a black Chrysler Pacifica had dropped of a man who then climbed into the woman's house through a window.
Once inside, the man attacked the woman and "forcefully choked her" while demanding her valuables, Slater said in a news release.
Police tracked down the attackers' getaway car a few blocks away. One of the two men in the car ran away and dove into a canal in an attempt to flee, police said. He was arrested.
The victim's stolen jewelry was found in the pockets of the suspect, police said. As well, cops found the victim's television in her back yard where one of the men had dropped it.
The two men are being interviewed by police.
